PAYING HOMAGE TO SHANGHAI'S ART DECO INFLUENCES
As Creative Directors at Stellar Works since 2015, Neri&Hu has reinforced the brand with a multicultural perspective that weaves in both East and West sensibilities. Their Mandarin collection for Stellar Works is a tribute to the Art Deco influences of 1930’s Shanghai.
Mandarin’s geometric structure takes cues from Asian temple design typologies, utilsing the sphere which symbolises the temple of Heaven, versus the square form represented by the temple of Earth. In contrast to these structured elementsv, the leather upholstery has a gentle curved line, which offers an overall refined elegance.
Neri&Hu strike a perfect balance between classical forms and mid-century aesthetics, resulting in a series of tables and chairs that embody a contemporary silhouette, with a connection to the history and culture which underlies its inspiration.

“The collection finds inspiration in the harmony and balance between classical forms and mid-century aesthetics. Neri&Hu have translated these into the design of a table and chairs following Asian temple design typologies: the sphere which symbolises the temple of Heaven, versus the square form represented by the temple of Earth".
