Interior Design's Best of Year is the design industry's premiere design awards program, honoring the most significant work of the year as well as recognizing designers, architects and manufacturers from around the globe.

Stellar Works is delighted to announce that the Kite Highback Chair designed by NENDO for Stellar Works is a winner of the Best of Year Awards 2020, in the Contract Highback Seating category.

Innumerable armchairs and sofas for lobbies and lounges are available, but well-executed designs for narrow spaces such as corridors and elevator lobbies are in short supply. Kite seeks to remedy that. Oki Sato of NENDO designed the compact armchair with a powder-coated steel frame and upholstered shell with petite commercial and hospitality spaces in mind. Its enveloping curved backrest is the star of the show, yielding a design as much about leaning back as sitting down. The seat and back are independent of one another and can be specified in different combinations-shallow plus tall, deep plus short, etc.-to suit the available space and the degree of privacy desired.
